SEMI FINALS ROUND UP

'M' beat 'P' by 5 wickets
Favourites 'M' progressed to the final of the Alphabetical Cup competition after a low scoring win over a spirited 'P' team. Metcalfe and McGlashan again dominated the bowling stats, both taking three wickets as 'P' were restricted to just 140. Defending such a low target they were given some hope with Page, Peacock, Pain and Proctor each taking wickets. However, Hampshire opener Tony Middleton (65) proved impossible to dislodge and he guided the M's home to a five wicket victory with 12 overs to spare.

'T' beat 'H' by 1 wicket
Yet another dramatic finish featuring the 'H' team, but sadly for them on this occasion it was they who exited the tournament. Chasing a modest 198, 'T' seemed to be well on course for victory with Taylor (55) and Trestrail (40) putting them in a commanding position. But that Isle of Wight warrior Jeff Hose hauled the H's back into the fray with 3-35, leaving the T's needing two to win with just Alex Treagus and Richard Truscott at the crease in the final over of the match. Treagus scrambled a leg bye off Heseltines's second delivery before Truscott smashed the next ball to the boundary to give their side a nail-biting victory. Earlier Jon Hardy had continued his fine form with 75 before becoming one of Glyn Treagus's three victims.
